Jake the Ripper

The East End of London in Viktorian times was considerate a terrible place, because the poor lived there, in slums and there wasn't sanitation or water. Poverty drove many women to prostitution. Between the mounths of August-November in this area was the scene of a series murders.
Jack the Ripper killed  especially  street woman of London, the police could not catch him because Jack slipped into the shadows or the police were always too late.
People looked at Poe's stories and Stevenson's Doctor Jekylll and Mr Hyde. People in the theory thought that the killer was a respectable doctor became populary.
The story had a mysterious ending because when Jack the Ripper killed his last victim in the most brutal manner, he vanished from the scene for ever.
